Obituary of Gary H. Campbell

Gary H. Campbell, age 76, of 104 South Penn Street, Manheim, PA, formerly of Dayton, OH, died Saturday evening, June 13, 2009 at Pleasant View Retirement Community following complications of Parkinson's disease. Born in Dayton, OH, he was the son of the late Lester H. and Myrtle Homan Keller Campbell. He was the husband of Arlene A. Bieber Campbell. They were married for 55 years on August 8. Mr. Campbell attended Lancaster Evangelical Free Church in Lititz, PA. During the Korean War, he served as a corporal in the United States Army National Guard. Mr. Campbell earned a master's degree from the University of Cincinnati and an administrator's certificate from Penn State. Prior to retiring in 1994, he was employed for 23 years by Lancaster County Vocational Schools as an administrator. Previously, he was employed for six years by Patterson Co-Op in Dayton as a teacher and a coordinator. Mr. Campbell was an avid collector of Civil War artifacts and other antiques. He was a member and past president of Manheim Historical Society. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gary G., husband of Debra Baker Campbell of Manheim, and James C., husband of Michelle A. McGarry Campbell of Wrightsville, a daughter, Christy L., wife of William Bowditch of Charlotte, NC, 10 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harley G. Campbell, a sister, Myrna L. McKinley. Services will be private. Interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery in Manheim. The family requests that flowers please be omitted.
