Obituary of Michael J. Rice

Michael J. Rice, 57, of 1421 Stony Battery Road, Lancaster, PA died Sunday morning, July 19, 2009 at his residence. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Earl M. and Mary Miller Rice. Mike was a 1970 graduate of Hempfield High School. He served for eight years in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant. Part of his military career was served in Vietnam during the war. Mike was employed for 13 years by the Manheim Auto Auction in the auto recon center. More recently, he was employed as a warehouse worker by Weis Market on Stony Battery Road. In addition to enjoying fishing, he was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. Mike also played pool on the Mountville APA league. Surviving are three daughters, Rachael Lynn Rice, Victoria Marie Rice, and Nichole Michelle Rice; a brother, Ronald M., husband of Linda K. Rice, of Manheim; and two nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-brother, Lee Ellis. The family wishes to express appreciation to Tina and Robert Dovalla for their care and love for Mike. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
