Obituary of Doris E. Reif

Doris E. Reif, 79, of 59 South Fulton Street, Manheim, PA, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, August 8, 2009 at Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster, PA after becoming ill earlier that morning. Born in Warwick Twp., Lancaster County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Chester A. and Louise W. Pfautz Adair. She was the wife of Thomas J. Reif who died in 1988. Mrs. Reif was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church in Manheim where she was a member of the Widow's Club and the Lunch Bunch group. She was a 1947 graduate of Manheim Central High School. Prior to retiring in 1992, she was employed for 28 years as a machine operator by Warner-Lambert in Lititz. In addition to the Warner-Lambert Retirees Club, she was a member of Stiegel Roses and Manheim Historical Society, and a life-member of VFW Women's Auxiliary of Manheim. She is survived by two daughters, Judy A., wife of Craig Jordan of Lancaster, and Jean M., wife of Mike Riley of Columbia; two sons, Michael T., husband of Stephanie Borchick Reif and Daniel L., husband of Cynthia Gibble Reif, both of Manheim; five grandchildren, Gary and Timothy Jordan, Lauren, Eric, and Jason Reif; three step grandchildren, Michele Hennessey, Shannon Cranford, and Joe Skee; three step great grandchildren, Dominic Eldred, Elizabeth Riley, and Madelyn Cranford; a brother Richard P., husband of Doris Adair of Manheim; and a sister, Deloris Hamill of Harrisburg. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert P. Adair. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Richard Catholic Church, 201 Adele Avenue, Manheim, PA on Wednesday morning, August 12, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Francis T. Menei as celebrant. Final commendation and farewell will be at Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster, PA following a luncheon at the church. There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday morning form 10:00 AM until the time of the service. The family requests that flowers please be omitted.
