Shirley A. Hummert, 82, of Mount Joy, PA, formerly of Falmouth, entered rest from her labor on Tuesday morning, November 21, 2017 at ManorCare in Elizabethtown. Born in Mount Joy Twp., she was the daughter of the late Martin B. and Sarah Henry Bless. She was the significant other of Willard A. "Will" Reigel for 45 years.
Shirley was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown. Prior to retiring in 2000, she was employed as a final inspector by Wilton Armetale in Mount Joy for 33 years. Previously, she was employed by the former Kline Chocolate Company and in the Children's Home at Masonic Village, both in Elizabethtown. Shirley enjoyed bowling and instructed children to learn and to enjoy the sport as well. She also enjoyed flowers and had an extensive collection of snowmen.
In addition to Will, she is survived by three sons, Frank Hummert of Harrisburg, Jeffrey Hummert of Las Vegas, NV, and Michael Hummert of Elizabethtown; sons-in-law, Walter Nattress of Harrisburg, and Samuel Naples of Middletown; five grandchildren, Christopher Danner, Sam and Matt Naples, and Sarah and Jeffrey Hummert, Jr.; three great grandchildren, Jacinda Danner, Skyler Danner, and Julian Hummert; a great great granddaughter, Lana Danner; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Bless of Harrisburg, and Joanne Chambers of Manheim; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Naples; a daughter-in-law, Kim Hummert; a grandson, Corey Hummert; and eight siblings, Martin "Marty" Bless, Paul "Pete" Bless, Clarence "Nook" Bless, Richard "Dick" Bless, twin brothers Russell and Norman Bless, Laura Snyder, and Ruth Eicher.
A funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon, November 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Sheetz Funeral Home, 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA with Pastor Paul Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Tunnel Cemetery, Elizabethtown. The family will receive guests at Sheetz Funeral Home on Friday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
