Obituary of Sara G. Dickson

Sara G. "Sally" Dickson, 97, of Elizabethtown, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday evening, December 29, 2017 at Masonic Health Care Center. She was born in Walker Twp., Juniata Co. on January 19, 1920 to Oscar and Clara "Babe" (Kauffman) Groninger and she grew up on their farm in Mexico, PA. She was the wife of the late Richard "Dick" Dickson. Sally and her husband owned and operated Aunt Sally's Kitchen in Elizabethtown for 22 years. She also owned a yarn shop called Knit-A-Bit for three years. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown for 74 years. She is survived by a son George "Rick" Dickson of Merritt Island, FL two grandsons, Neill Dickson of Mechanicsburg, and Jason Dickson of Harrisburg; four great grandchildren; a brother, Don Groninger of Port Royal; and sister, Dorothy Smith of McAlisterville. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Julieanne Dickson, on December 3, 2016, and three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Graham, Edie Mae Switzer, and Annabelle Postl. A memorial service will be held on Friday morning, January 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St Paul's United Methodist Church, 398 North Locust Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. There will be no viewing. The family will receive guests on Friday morning from 10 AM till the time of service. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Adam's Cemetery in Juniata County. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
