Obituary of Edward A. Van Horn

Edward Aloysius Van Horn, 72, of Elizabethtown, PA, formerly of Reading and Lebanon, passed away on Saturday evening, January 27, 2018 at Hershey Medical Center. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Stephen B. and Joan Marie Cippoletti Horney. He was the husband of the late Barbara Ann Shelton Van Horn for five years prior to her passing on January 1, 2017. A 1963 graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School, Mr. Van Horn was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Elizabethtown. He served in the infantry of the United States Army Reserve. Prior to retiring, he was employed as a salesman by the former Big A Auto Parts, Nolt's Auto Parts, and other area auto parts stores. Ed was a member of Lodge No. 62, F&AM in West Reading and a life member and Past Grand Tall Cedar of Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Neversink Forest No. 32. He was also a member of the Max W. Schaeffer VFW in Wolmelsdorf. In addition to being an avid golfer, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his former wife, Fern L. Lengel Wright, of Reading; two daughters, Carolyn T. Krick, wife of Phillip R. Krick, Jr., of West Lawn, and Melissa N., wife of Nicholas R. Hinsey, of Exeter; three grandchildren, Mason Edward Hinsey, Emily Drew Hinsey, and Julia Grace Hall; six siblings; Joanne Shutter of Tucson, AZ, Mary, wife of Joel Hall, of Lebanon, Anthony, husband of Roberta Horney, of Middletown, Stephen, husband of Deborah Horney, of Waynesboro, VA, Lucille, wife of Joseph Kenny, of Lebanon, and Tina, wife of Louis Zeck, of Lebanon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM January 31, 2018 at John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA with Very Rev. Steven W. Fauser, VF as celebrant. Interment will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville. The family will receive guests at a viewing at Sell Chapel on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. The family requests that flowers please be omitted.
