Obituary of Marlin W. Hosler

Marlin W. "Dick" Hosler, 85, of 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim, PA, formerly of Rapho Twp., went home to be with his Lord on Thursday morning, October 1, 2009 at Pleasant View Retirement Community in Manheim. Born in Rapho Twp., Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Walter and Daisy White Hosler. He was the husband of the late Mae Longenecker Hosler who died in 2003. Mr. Hosler was a member of Chiques Church of the Brethren in Manheim where he served on the cemetery board for 16 years and helped to maintain the cemetery. He expressed his interest in Christian music by attending Gospel concerts with his wife and singing in both the Chiques men's chorus and men's octet. Dick was a self-employed farmer for 20 years prior to being employed as an LP gas delivery man for the former Myers Metered Gas in Manheim, and its successors. He was also employed part-time by the Manheim Auto Auction. He was a charter member of the Mastersonville Volunteer Fire Company. His interests included hunting and taking bus trips with his wife. He is survived by five children, Marlin R., husband of Donna M. Nissley Hosler, Janice M., wife of Gary F. Shenk, and Randy S., husband of Sandra J. Shenk Hosler, all of Manheim, Robert B., husband of Sandra McClaine Hosler, of Sarver, PA, and Mary Ann, wife of Delbert L. Kautz, of Millersville, PA; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; six siblings, Orpha Foreman, Galen, husband of Alta Hosler, Esther, wife of Wilbur Lehman, and Grace Myer, all of Manheim, Stanley Hosler of Lancaster, PA, and Naomi Hollinger of Palmyra, PA, and a special friend, Mary Grace Wolgemuth, of Manheim. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Ray W. Hosler, an infant twin sister, Mary Hosler, and four other siblings, Ruth Haldeman, Paul Hosler, Mark Hosler, and Amelia Buckwalter. A funeral service will be held at Chiques Church of the Brethren, 4045 Sunnyside Road, Manheim, PA on Sunday evening, October 4, 2009 at 7:00 PM. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery on Monday morning at 10:00 AM. Friends may call at the church on Sunday afternoon from 5:00 PM until the time of the service. The family requests that flowers please be omitted.
