Obituary of John D. King

John D. King, 80, of Lancaster, PA, formerly of Manheim, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday evening, March 1, 2018 at Lancaster General Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Ronks, PA, he was the son of the late David K. and Sarah P. Esh King. He was the husband of Annetta L. Kover King for 60 years on April 20th. John was an active member of Lititz Church of the Brethren. Prior to retiring, he was the owner of King Photography of Manheim. He was a former member of the National Photography Association and was a former member and 2004 president of the Pennsylvania Photography Association. During his professional career, he received many commendations and merits. John was also the owner of K&B Builders, which later became Quality Builders, Inc., and was a salesman for J.C. Snavely & Sons, Inc. in Landisville, PA. He was also employed for 13 years by Warner-Lambert in Lititz. John was a cast member in and technical advisor for the 1985 movie Witness. He was involved in an advisory capacity in the films For Richer, For Poorer, and Stoning in Fulham County. He was past president of the Manheim Chamber of Commerce and former member and treasurer of the Rotary Club of Manheim. He and Annetta hosted several exchange students in their home over the years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Twyla D., wife of Donald Rowe, of Westminster, MD and David L., husband of Carol L. Moser King, of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren, Rachel and Hannah King, and Nicholas and Zachary Rowe; four great grandchildren; and siblings Elam King, of Quarryville, Eli King of Ronks, Rebecca, wife of John Beiler, and Lizzie, wife of Henry Stoltzfus, all of Leola, Sarah, wife of Stephen Fisher, of Quarryville, and Sylvia, wife of Omer Petersheim, of Alabama. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Deborah A. King; four brothers, Benjamin, Ephraim, David, and Amos King; and a sister, Malinda King. A funeral service will be held on FRIDAY, MARCH 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 West Orange Street, Lititz, PA 17543. Interment will follow in the Longenecker Brethren Cemetery, Lititz. The family will receive guests at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. If desired, contributions may be made in his memory and payable to The Tree House a Community Playground at Lititz Church of the Brethren and mailed to the church address.
