David H. Hays, 80, of Mount Joy, PA, entered eternity on Sunday morning, April 1, 2018 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born in Womelsdorf, he was the son of the late Marlin A. and Helen E. Rabold Hays. He was the husband of Lynne H. Haldeman Hays. David was a believer in the Christian faith and most recently affiliated with Proclamation Church in Mount Joy, a Presbyterian Church in America. He served in the United States Navy stationed in Hawaii. He had a rewarding career in corrugated packaging as both in management and sales. He eventually retired from WestRock in Lancaster. In addition to being a member of Manheim Lodge No. 587, F&AM, he was a 32nd degree Mason, Valley of Reading, a member of Rajah Shrine, and a member and associate patron of Order of Eastern Star, Lititz Springs Chapter No. 499. In addition to being an avid hunter, David loved flying private aircraft and had a pilot's license. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two step-sons, Justin H., husband of Julie Belch Haldeman, of Clarks Summit and Erik H., husband of Jodee Staten Haldeman, of Annandale, VA; five grandchildren, Isaac, Elizabeth, Rowen, Thomas, and Andrew Haldeman; and three siblings, Jack, husband of Bonnie Hays, of Womelsdorf, Alice, wife of John Kissling, of Womelsdorf, and Phillip Hays of Robesonia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Maryanne Gockley, wife of Terry Gockley. Services will be private. There will be no public viewing. If desired, contributions may be made in his memory to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
