Obituary of Robert E. Brandt

Robert E. Brandt, 80, of 7733 Elizabethtown Road, Elizabethtown, PA was called to his heavenly home on Thursday afternoon, October 8, 2009 after a nine month illness. Born in Mount Joy Twp., Lancaster County, PA, he was the son of the late John B. and Martha Kolp Brandt. He was the husband of Anna H. Wolgemuth Brandt for 59 years on August 5. Bob was an active member of Chiques Church of the Brethren in Manheim, supporting the church in many ways. He was a member of the Chiques men's chorus since its beginning. He was a self-employed dairy farmer on the very farm where he was born. He was also employed part time by the Manheim Auto Auction for 17 years until January 2009. Bob enjoyed gardening, caring for his lawn, and, most of all, spending time with his family In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Robert N., husband of Marian Rodgers Brandt of Elizabethtown, Sharon L., wife of Henry Bowman, Jr. of Manheim, Steven L., husband of Pamela Frey Brandt of Manheim, and Joel L., husband of Kimberly Freet Brandt of Elizabethtown; ten grandchildren, Jonathan Bowman, husband of Eun Sun Ko, Heather, wife of Ryan Blake, Justin, husband of Kylee Bowman, Taylor, husband of Sara Brandt, Joshua Bowman, Lindsey Brandt, Elyse Brandt, Kristin, wife of Daniel Kreisher, Adam Brandt, and Aaron Brandt; and a sister, Ethel M. Shelly of Manheim. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Renee Harnley Brandt. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at Chiques Church of the Brethren, 4045 Sunnyside Road, Manheim, PA on Sunday evening, October 11, 2009 at 6:30 PM. Interment will be private in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be no public viewing. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday afternoon from 5:00 PM until the time of the service. The family requests that flowers please be omitted.
