Jesse was like a father in the faith to us, since he was an older pastor and we mutually served churches in pastoral roles, including the same church which is how we came to know him. He was quick to start any discussion related to the Bible and winning souls to Christ. He also loved to talk about his family and all the grandchildren and greats as well. An amazing man with such diverse skills and talents, we learned much from him. I will miss our yearly get-togethers of him and Wilma helping me slice and peel my squash and pumpkins as they both insisted on doing. Our fellowship with these two precious saints over the past years has left us richer and better for it. We pray for the family as they grieve their loss on this side, especially our dear friend and sister in the faith, Wilma. We write about Jesse and include photos here: https://www.dailyencouragement.net/archives/2019-02-11.htm

To Wilma, Jesseen, Nevin, and the rest of the wonderful Dourte family: You have my condolences. Jesse and his wonderful family played a precious role in the lives of the Nixons next door. We had no clue on day 1, yet with Jesse's patience, persistence, and passion we survived just fine. I know Jesse touched many lives throughout his, always putting others first. With fondest memories... Ken and Linn Nixon, Idaho.

Wilma and family...so sorry for your loss. You have been and will be in my thoughts and prayers. Jesse was such a good man and so nice. I remember him as a happy person, always with a smile, and I loved to hear him sing at Speedwell. God be with all of you now and in the days ahead. --- Tracey (Bauman) Ruzicka

So sorry to hear of the loss of Jesse Dourte. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. We were long time neighbors and learned to know them in many aspects of life. Jesse and his family were hard working and there were times that we helped each other on our family farms, be it catching chickens or helping plant tomatoes or spraying fruit trees. There were also times that we played together such as when we were snowed in and took advantage of the time to sled or toboggin. Those wonderful memories will live on. The video posted is of Jesse clearing the road when it was too much for the snowplow. The Dourte and Kilmer kids are sledding while Jesse clears the road. Your neighbor, Nelson Kilmer
