Obituary of G. Herbert Zeager
G. Herbert Zeager, 87, of Elizabethtown, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday afternoon, February 3, 2019 at Bob Fryer and Family Inpatient Center of Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. Born in West Donegal Twp., he was the son of the late Paul and Anna Landis Zeager. He was the husband of Orpha I. Seiders Zeager. They would have been married for 68 years on March 21.
Herb was a member of Conoy Brethren in Christ Church in Elizabethtown where he served as a deacon. In addition to farming, he was employed by Zeager Brothers, Inc, Messick's Farm Equipment as a repairman and also cut and sold firewood. Herb enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family at their family cabin in Union County.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, John P., husband of Sara J. Hess Zeager, of Rheems, Lois I., wife of Elvin M. Weaver, of Elizabethtown, Daniel R., husband of Patricia A. Kintzer Zeager, of Gardners, and J. Edward, husband of Yvonne R. Martin Zeager, of Elizabethtown; 13 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and seven siblings, J. Frank Zeager, of Lititz, Ethel M. Pannell of Harrisonburg, VA, Arlene E., wife of Christian Becker, of Elizabethtown, John A., husband of Rachel Zeager, of Elizabethtown, Charles B., husband of Jan Zeager, of Middletown, P. Thomas, husband of Helen Zeager, of Hopeland, and Harvey D. Zeager of Golden, CO. He was also preceded in death by nine siblings, James, Russel, Paul, William, and David Zeager, Mary Ruth Espenshade, Almeda Heisey, Anna J. Kamoda, and Verna Grace Nissley.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Conoy Brethren in Christ Church, 1722 Bainbridge Road, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Interment will follow in the Elizabethtown Mennonite Cemetery. The family will receive guests at a viewing at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
