Obituary of Earl E. Wenzel

Earl E. Wenzel, 78, of 1160 North Colebrook Road, Manheim, PA, peacefully went home to be with his Lord on Saturday morning, February 13, 2010 at Lancaster General Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Leola, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel and Bertha Mohler Wenzel. He was the husband of Lorraine Bollinger Wenzel for 52 years on April 6, 2009. Earl was a member of Chiques Church of the Brethren in Manheim where he sang in the adult choir and with the men's chorus. He was a 1949 graduate of Ephrata High School. Earl was a truck driver for over 50 years and truly enjoyed his work. He was first employed by Norman B. Martin where he transported potatoes all over the eastern United States. Later, he was employed for 30 years by the former Myers Metered Gas in Manheim and its successors. Most recently, Earl transported fuel for Worley and Obetz for over 20 years. In addition to traveling and gardening, Earl enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Stephen E. Wenzel of Manheim, and Ronald L., husband of Sylvia J. Shenk Wenzel, of Miamisburg, OH; three grandchildren, Katie Kendrick, Jason Wenzel, and Lindsey Wenzel; and a sister, Ruth Wenger of Richland, PA. Family and guests are invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday afternoon, February 16, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Chiques Church of the Brethren, 4045 Sunnyside Road, Manheim, PA with Ron Strickler and Michael Hess officiating. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
