When Rick and I were engaged and planning our wedding in 1981, we asked Uncle Fred to be our organist at the ceremony. I will never forget Uncle Fred approaching me at a time of upset with trying to please my mother with the wedding music. Uncle Fred said he would only play what Rick and I wanted because that was all that mattered. He helped us plan the music we wanted and we breathed a sigh of relief. Uncle Fred played such an important and calming part of our wedding ceremony planning and I had only begun to know him.
Another memory is when Dad (Sid) Creveling died, after most people had left the church, Uncle Fred started playing the organ in the sanctuary. One by one, family members came to sit in the sanctuary to listen. Then, one by one, a few members went up with Uncle Fred and started singing the words to the hymns he was playing. That is such a wonderful and touching memory of that day.
We love you and we miss you, Uncle Fred.
