Some of you may be wondering how Yusnan and I got to meet and date each other. Let me tell you the story of how amazing our God is.
It all started back in December 2005. Yusnan and I were in our freshman year at Pensacola Christian College. Yusnan had gone for a road trip to New York with a group of friends, while I stayed at my friend's, Katie, house in Minnesota.
One day, Yusnan called my cell phone and said, "Is this Vianna?"
Vianna is our mutual friend in college.
"No," I answered, "Vee left for Indonesia, so I am using her number right now."
We started to talk on the phone since then.
Several months passed and we were still 'just friends.' On April 11, 2006, I suddenly thought if Yusnan had to eat dinner by himself, because he had to work right after class. I came across him after my English class and asked, "Do you have anybody to eat dinner with tonight? If not, I can go eat dinner with you if you wanted to." Trust me; it wasn't 'normal' for me to ask a guy out to dinner like that. I wasn't sure why in the world did I ask him that question. Yusnan then said that he didn't have anybody to go to dinner with. So that evening we went for dinner at Palms Grille, a restaurant inside the college, and there that evening Yusnan asked me to be his girlfriend. It took me some time to think about what my answer would be, and I finally said "Yes" on April 23, 2006; that's our official dating date.
About a year later, Yusnan told me a story which, I think, answered the question why I randomly asked him about dinner. Apparently on that same week I ask him out, Yusnan had prayed, "Lord, if it is Your will for me to date Mega, please give me a chance to have a dinner alone with her sometimes this week." (We usually always eat dinner with a group of friends)
Friends, that "wrong" phone call and "unplanned" dinner turned out to be such a beautiful relationship and memory for Yusnan and me. I believe so will this car "accident." It will turn out to be something good and beautiful according to His will. Romans 8:28 "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."
I don't know why this car "accident" happened. Why Yusnan? Why me? Why now? There are so many things that I don't understand. Maybe I'll find out some day; or maybe I will have to wait until I see Jesus face to face and ask Him personally. One thing I know for sure: something beautiful will come out of this. Our God is in control, nothing surprises Him. He works in a mighty way that we can never understand.
So Friends, no matter what difficult circumstances you are having right now; know that He is in control. Cry out to God, and He will help and strengthen you.
Psalms 34:17-18 "When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit"
