Obituary of Larry G. Witman

Larry G. Witman, 65, of Manheim, PA, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday morning, June 25, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy, PA. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Lester F. and Isabel E. Fichthorn Witman. He was the husband of Barbara D. Keener Witman for 41 years this past Monday, June 20.
Larry was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Manheim. During the Vietnam War, he served in the United States Marine Corps as a combat engineer with the rank of Lance Corporal. He was employed for 18 years by the former Raybestos in Manheim. Prior to retiring in 1998, he was employed for 12 years by Armstrong World Industries. Larry continued to work for various employers following his retirement until his illness. He was a life-member of the Ephrata VFW, enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and restoring antique automobiles. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Heidi R. Nelson of Middletown, PA, and Trudi G., wife of Bryan S. Heiselman, of Lebanon, PA; three grandchildren, Hailey Nelson, Casey Witman-Bush, and Ian Heiselman; four siblings, Gary, husband of Irene Witman, of Manheim, Linda Hilton of Manheim, Sue McDonald of Lebanon, PA, and Peggy, wife of Steve McFeat, of Millersville, PA; and his mother-in-law, Betty Keener of Ephrata, PA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sandy Wolfe.
Interment will be private at Riverview Burial Park in Lancaster, PA. There will be no viewing. The family requests that flowers please be omitted.
