Obituary of Kenneth E. Dennis, Jr.

Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kenneth E. Dennis, Jr., 74, of Pine Grove, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, November 28, 2019 surrounded by his family at the home of his daughter.  Born and raised in York, he was the son of the late Kenneth E. Dennis, Sr. and May V. Sheffer Beschler.  He was the loving husband of Donna J. Bemiller Dennis for nearly 54 years prior to her passing in 2017.

Ken was a man of deep Christian faith.  He had a heart for troubled youth and created a transitional residence called Opportunity Home to give youth a second chance.  He often spoke to groups of youth in correctional centers and impressed upon them the liberty of living a Christian life.  Ken was also a sought after speaker by local Gideon’s International groups.

For many years, he was the owner and broker of Ken E. Dennis Real Estate.  When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and being outdoors.  But his greatest passion was sharing his life with his wife, who was his best friend; his family; and helping others.

He is survived by three children, Troy A., husband of Laurie R. Large Dennis, of Annville, Todd A. Dennis of Pine Grove, Tina A., wife of Jake M. Nolt, of Manheim; five grandchildren, Benjamin Dennis, Alyssa Dennis, Trevor Dennis, Karlie Nolt, and Jenna Nolt; four siblings, Terry, husband of Gerry Dennis, of York, David, husband of Linda Dennis, of York, Charlie, husband of Julie Dennis, of Florida, LuAnn, wife of Mike Cassel, of York; and a brother-in-law, Vic Zech of Florida.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Diane Zech.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday afternoon, December 8, 2019 at 1:30 PM at Manheim Brethren in Christ Church, 54 North Penryn Road, Manheim, PA.  There will be no public viewing.  The family will receive guests at the church on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  Private interment will be in Mount Rose Cemetery, York, PA.  To express a condolence with the family or for additional information, visit www.spencefuneralservices.com.
