Obituary of Mary L. Sheesley

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mary L. Sheesley, 81, of Elizabethtown, PA, formerly of Montgomery and Milton, went to be with her Lord on Friday morning, August 7, 2020 at Masonic Health Care Center in Elizabethtown following a lengthy illness.  Born in Muncy, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Naomi Shrey Mincemoyer.  She was the wife of Donald E. Sheesley for 62 years on February 8.

Following graduation from Montgomery Area High School in 1956, Mary began working for Weis markets.  Prior to retiring in 2000, she was employed as a production worker for Chef Boyardee for 34 years.  Mary faithfully attended Christ Wesleyan Church in Milton and was a dedicated volunteer at the Thrift Store of the Nazarene Church.

Mary enjoyed water skiing, boating, spending time in the sun, and wintering in North Fort Myers, Florida.  She also enjoyed playing cards, especially Pinochle, crocheting, and was a voracious reader.  She and Don met at a square dance and they continued square dancing their entire marriage.  She endeavored to keep Eastern Square Dancing alive by being a member of the American Folk Music Association.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Sandy L. Sheesley, wife of Shannon Duke, of Danville, CA, and Barry A., husband of Debra McCardle Sheesley, of Elizabethtown; and two grandchildren, Derek and Amber Sheesley.  She was also preceded in death by two siblings, Eugene Mincemoyer and June Woodside.
