Obituary of Richard G. Fairman

Dr. Richard G. “Rick” Fairman, 73, of Lititz, PA, formerly of Baltimore, finally met Jesus face-to-face on Monday afternoon, January 31, 2022 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.  Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Harold Fairman, Sr. and Grace J. Harvey Fairman.  Rick was the loving husband of Judy K. Ashman Fairman for 39 years on May 15th.

Rick prepared himself academically for ministry and Christian teaching by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in social science and sociology from Wheaton College in 1970 followed by a Master of Theology degree with a focus on Old Testament and Hebrew language from Dallas Seminary in 1974.  In 1986 Rick earned his Doctorate in Theology at Grace Theological Seminary.

Whether he was teaching in the classroom or preaching behind the pulpit, his spiritual gift was to serve as a pastor.  His sense of humor and ease of conversation served him well in getting to know people.  Over the years, Rick served as interim pastor for various congregations.  Presently, he was serving as interim pastor of New Beginnings Charis Fellowship Church in Myerstown.  He also taught in several Bible colleges and seminaries, including Grace Theological Seminary, Southeastern Bible College, and Winnipeg Bible College. Rick also spent 14 years as a Bible and Theology Professor at Lancaster Bible College.  Rick was a member of Lititz Grace Church and served on the Herald Board of Grace Brethren Churches for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Jonathan M., husband of Leslie Jones Fairman; and a daughter, Katie M. Fairman, significant other of Ryan C. Baker. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Chloe Danielle Fairman Taylor, Greyson Alder Fairman, and Laurel Margaret Fairman.

A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday afternoon, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Lititz Grace, 501 West Lincoln Avenue, Lititz, PA.  There will be no public viewing.  The family will greet guests at the church on Saturday from 11:30 AM-12:45 PM.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ever Loved Memorial Account, http://bit.ly/richard-fairman.  To express a condolence with the family or for additional information, visit www.spencefuneralservices.com.
