I will miss one of my brothers from the Crusade House at Penn State. I wasn't aware of all of Dirk's talents. He was always laid back and made you feel at home.

I worked with Dirk at both eBay and at Herr Foods. Dirk is directly responsible for my coming to work for Herr foods having recommend me for the job when I was laid off from eBay. Dirk was not just a coworker he was a friend; we keep in touch while he continued to work at eBay though Facebook and texting. So, when Dirk came to work at Herr foods it was easy to pick up where we left off. You could often hear us discussing science fiction books, movies, religion and yes politics (a favorite subject of Dirks). The office feels empty without Dirk, and he will be missed.

Dirk was a man of many talents. He helped me improve my guitar skills tremendously through our 'PSU Living Strings ensemble' and when I asked if he would teach me piano he asked, "Will you promise to practice 2 hours a day?" I replied, " I am in college and spend a great deal of time with CCC, I could manage 1 hour a day" He said" no, if you can't commit to 2 hours I won't teach you." I marveled at his skills with his car, Lazarus, aptly named because it would die and Dirk would bring it back to life over and over again. I pray for God to comfort his family --

I was there when Dirk came to Christ. From then on, there was no stopping him. I have so many amazing memories of that time. His becoming out brother was one of the best. Lynne "When we all get to heaven..!!

So sorry to hear of Dirk’s passing. I first encountered Dirk as I walked home from a Campus Crusade meeting in the fall of 1977 at Penn State. We rekindled a friendship on social media years later. I’m so glad he knew Jesus. Prayers for comfort and peace for all his family.
