I first met Pat Meenehan when we were 15-year old sophomores at D.J. O’Connell High School in Arlington, VA. We kept in touch throughout our adult lives until recently when I could no longer contact him for some unknown reason. I enlisted the assistance of his sister, Janet from Delaware, but she, too, had a hard time finding out where he was. I was inspired to “Google” him today and found out that he had passed. That leaves a hole in my heart as I relished our communications and regret their loss. He was a good man.
Rest in Peace, Paddy. I love you.

Patti,
I am so glad to have met you today when we came together to celebrate your rermarkable husband's amazing life. Many thanks to you, your family, your pastor and your lovely community for your warm welcome. The words of tribute that you asked your pastor to share with us today were so beautiful. They rang so true of the Patrick I knew and, yet, hadn't seen or spoken to in so many years. I'm so glad you and he have such a lovely family, church and community -- and in such a beautiful place -- as well as your shared faith to keep you company as you begin this new chapter in your life.
When I was in high school and during my 1st year of college, I worked for Pat at Meenehan's Hardware in Georgetown. I also spent so much time with the Meenehan family that Patrick's father, whom we at the store called Mr. John, once told The Washington Post during an interview about a "questionable" store near Meenehan's Hardware that he had two daughters at Trinity College. Actually, he had one daughter, Janet, and me, her friend, who were students at Holy Trinity High School. Clearly, Mr. John had seen me in their home and at their dinner table quite often! His wife, Betty, was the most amazing homemaker and gardner I've ever known. Mom Meenehan was like a 2nd mother to me. And, your husband was the most fun, funny, attentive big brother I've ever known.
May the telling of stories continue to keep the joy of knowing and loving your husband alive for generations to come.

So sad to hear of Patrick's passing, Patty. He was such a warm and vibrant human and I'll always fondly remember his spirt and humor. I know the girls will too. Sending love to you and your entire family.

Dear Patty and family. I'm so sorry to hear of Pat's passing. I haven't been in touch with him for many years, but long ago he was such a significant and loved part of our group of friends We still can enjoy some of the photos he took of us and can still smile at some of his animated stories. He was a great story teller and photographer. I'm so glad to hear that he spent his later years with a large family, I'm sure that made him very happy.
Peace and blessings.
