Celebration of Life
Obituary of Joseph Walter Heisey
Joseph Walter Heisey (J. Walter) was born on July 23, 1935, he left this world on October 8, 2023. With loving awareness, he departed surrounded by family and holding the hand of his surviving wife, Rachel. He is also survived by a daughter, Cindy Harder and Husband Tom of Middletown and son, Jeff Heisey of Fort Lauderdale.
It’s a 63 year Love story of a farm boy, finding his farm girl, at her produce stand; the gift of their last chapter here, is now ours to share with you.
J. Walter was well skilled in cabinetry and woodworking. With his wife, their business, Heisey’s Custom Kitchens provided a springboard into home building, real estate and a variety of different local business ventures throughout his life. His work ethic was rigid, with Rachel almost always by his side. She balanced their work with Church ministry and his favorite things like gardening, reading, gospel music, boating, fishing, hunting, touring and regular family seashore escapes. Complimenting his skills and passions, he served at various mission locations throughout Zimbabwe for two years in lei of military service. There he provided construction services and hunted wild game as provision for the missions.
J. Walter’s expression of Faith and giving heart was found in his daily walk, reflecting the Love and Life of Christ in his words, deeds and actions.
J. Walter is also survived by three grandchildren, Asher Harder, of Orlando, Florida; Addi Eby, wife of Kurtis Eby of New Cumberland with great grandson Tommy Eby; and Abigail Harder of Mount Joy.
