Obituary of Joan L. "Joanie" Lefever

Joan L. "Joanie" Lefever, 73, of Lancaster, PA, died on Friday afternoon, May 4, 2012 at Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster, following a brief illness. Born in Lancaster, she lived her entire life in the same neighborhood. Joanie was a follower of the Roman Catholic faith. She was employed by the former K-D Tools in Mountville as an assembler for 24 years. Later, she was a machine operator for 16 years for Precision Form, Inc. in Lititz. Most recently, she enjoyed being a hostess in the dining room at Conestoga View, a position she held for two years prior to her illness. Joanie was an avid roller skater in her earlier years. She also enjoyed making candy, peanut butter eggs, and assorted chocolates which she often gave to family and friends. Joanie loved entertaining and hosting parties in her home. She is survived by three sons, Carl R., Jr., husband of Donna Lefever, of Manheim, PA, Dean F. Lefever of Lancaster, and John C., Sr., husband of Kate Lefever, of Lancaster; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael J. Kurtz, and a grandson, Michael Allen Lefever. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA with Pastor Mark E. Weiss as celebrant. Final commendation and farewell will follow in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster. There will be no viewing or visitation. Joanie requests that flowers please be omitted.
