John (Bud) loved the outdoors, particularly fishing at Stoney Creek for pike and trout, or at one of the tributary streams to the Susquehanna for bass and channel catfish. And when we were young, my Brother John Mike and I, and, of course, his two sons, John Jr. and Davey, were given the opportunity to join him on these grand adventures, and they were always memorable. However, one trip to Stoney Creek was particularly memborable for me. After bicycling (no motorized vehicles were allowed) more or less five miles to a prime fishing spot, we enjoyed a delightful day on the beautiful Stoney. Sometime before dusk we began our return trip; however, we had not gone very far before the chain on my bicycle broke. Bud would not even consider allowing me to push the bike. Instead he tied a rope between our bicycles and proceeded to haul me all the way back without ever stopping on the way. It was well after dark when we arrived; however, we did arrive safely and without further incident! To this day, whenever I think of Bud and reflect upon all of his accomplishments and reasons to admire him, the bicycle adventure on the Stoney is always foremost in my mind.

Farewell to one of the gentlest, kindest, noblest, and most generous humans I have ever met. Our whole Family held him in the highest regard. We were all fortunate indeed when Bud married Faye and became one of us. It is unfortunate for Humanity that so few of his stature and goodness exist among us, and now we have lost him. I am very sad indeed.

John Coolidge (Bud) was the best of the best. I could use so many adjectives to describe him -- kind, caring, moral, intelligent, giving, helping, -- just an all around good guy. Everyone who knew him loved him. The world would be a much better place if there were more John Coolidges (Bud)

John was a good and caring neighbor of ours for over 30 years. His pleasant greetings and good nature were always welcomed. His daily walks with his little dog were a joy to behold and assured us that all was right in neighborhood. We will certainly miss him. Our condolences to his sons John and Dave. We grieve with you in your loss.

Dear John and Dave, I was so sad to see that your dad had passed away. I lived next door for nearly 20 years and have so many memories. The first time I met Bud was the day I moved in. He was apologizing profusely because Fuzz bit me! Every time I had a bat in my house, he would come over with his fishing net and a cardboard box and rescue it. We shoveled tons of snow side-by-side trying to make the street parkable in winter often making piles higher than the cars. When the neighborhood was organizing a crime watch, we had a meeting. We were asked the question, "What should every neighborhood have that yours has?" The answer was the same from everybody -- every neighborhood should have a Bud Coolidge!! He was a quiet gentleman, a first rate neighbor, good to the core and I am privileged to have known him. My condolences to you and your family. Sincerely, Vicki
