Obituary of Eugene F. "Gene" Fisher

Eugene F. "Gene" Fisher, Sr., 80, of Manheim, PA, was called home to Heaven on Tuesday morning, April 15, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, PA following a brief illness. Born in West Hempfield Twp., he was the son of the late Daniel H. and Esther Seitz Fisher. He was the husband of Ruth N. Hoffer Fisher for 51 years on April 5th. Gene attended Community Bible Church in Palmyra. He was employed as a manager for over 39 years by the former Sperry-New Holland Co. He retired from the Grand Island, NE location in 1991. He was a very witty man who was quick to help others in need and was willing to fix anything broken. In addition to fishing, hunting, and golfing, he and his wife also traveled extensively in their RV camper. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Deborah M., wife of John Trimble, of Drumore, PA, Donna M., wife of Kenneth Weaver, of Millersville, PA, Diane M. Chilcott, of Exton, PA, D. Scott, husband of Robin Huss Fisher, of Holtwood, PA, and Eugene F., Jr., husband of Miki Parrish Fisher, of Mount Joy, PA; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; six siblings, Fay McKonley, Joyce, wife of Leonard Droege, Jacqui, wife of Frank McKonley, and Jennifer, wife of James Meley, all of Lancaster, Margaret, wife of John Brown, of Columbia, PA, and Holly, wife of Joseph Mele, of Mountville. He was preceded in death by two sons, John R. Millhouse and Matthew A. Fisher; and five siblings, June Fisher, Daniel Fisher, Mary Kauffman, James Fisher, and Janice Metzger. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Community Bible Church, 1849 South Forge Road, Palmyra, PA 17078with Pastor Greg Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Shenk's Cemetery, Elizabethtown, PA. There will be no viewing. The family will receive guests at a luncheon at the church immediately following the graveside service.
