Obituary of Fern L. Orwick

Fern L. Orwick, 88, formerly of Manheim, PA, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, October 4, 2016 at Hickory House Nursing and Rehabilitation in Honey Brook. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Gertrude Lehn Galbreath. She was the wife of the late James D. Orwick who died in 2013 after 33 years of marriage. Fern was a graduate and valedictorian of the Class of 1946 at the former Manheim High School. In her younger years, she was employed as a cashier by various retail department stores and later worked as a secretary in the classified department of Palm Beach (FL) Post. She enjoyed buying poinsettias wholesale and retailing them to various customers during the holidays. Before moving to Florida, she volunteered at Lancaster General Hospital. She enjoyed knitting, especially newborn baby caps which she donated to infants born at the Waynesville (NC) Hospital. She is survived by two daughters, Jean A., wife of Alan R. Daniels, of Intercourse, and Julie K., wife of Kevin D. Brown, of Lantana, FL; a grandson, Corey D. Brown; and two great grandsons. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Daniel Brown and David Brown; and two sisters, Irene Garman and Evelyn Earhart. Services are private.
