Obituary of Ida Sauder Brubaker

Ida Sauder Brubaker, 102, of Lititz, PA, formerly of Penn Twp., died peacefully on Saturday afternoon, October 21, 2017 at Landis Homes. Born in East Earl, she was the daughter of the late P. Eaby and Ida Martin Sauder. She was the wife of the late John S. Brubaker for 35 years prior to his passing in 1973. A homemaker, Ida was a member of Erb Mennonite Church in Lititz where she taught Sunday school and was active serving the church in her younger years. She was a dedicated volunteer of Lancaster General Hospital, the International Thrift and Gift Shop in Mount Joy, and Abundant Living Ministries. In addition to quilting and gardening, she was a seamstress and enjoyed making clothing for her family. She is remembered as one who was pleasant and always affirming and accepting of everyone. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Grace, wife of Harold A. Shenk, of Mount Joy; a son, John R., husband of JoAnne R. Baer Brubaker, of Milwaukee, WI; and six grandchildren, Cynthia Rose Shenk, Harold K. Shenk, Douglas J. Shenk, John S. Brubaker, Jeffery S. Brubaker, and Loren C. Smith; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Cora S. Sweigart of Kenton, OH. She was preceded in death by four children; an infant son, Roy David Brubaker, James R. Brubaker, Kathleen J. "Kathy" Brubaker, and Carol E. Smith; a son-in-law, Barry Smith; and three siblings, Alvin Sauder, Elizabeth S. Martin, and Grace S. Eberly. A funeral will be held on Thursday morning, October 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM at West Bethany Chapel of Landis Homes, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, PA 17543. All are invited to join the family for a luncheon at Erb Mennonite Church following the interment at Erb Mennonite Cemetery. The family will receive guests at a viewing on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Please omit flowers.
