Obituary of Ronald L. Mellinger

Ronald L. Mellinger, 72, of 1772 Becker Road, Manheim, PA, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Lancaster General Hospital as a result of a construction accident while volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Alvin K. and Edna M. Denlinger Mellinger. He was the husband of Judy Ginder Mellinger for 48 years on November 4, 2009. Ron was an active member and currently serving on the leadership team of Florin Church of the Brethren in Mount Joy, PA. He volunteered his time and talent with Habitat for Humanity, Brethren Disaster Relief, Love, INC, and served on the Camp Swatara Board of Directors. Ron also mentored individuals involved in the Faith Homes of Hope ministry. Ron served in 1W Service in Baltimore, MD during the early 1960s. Prior to retiring in 2001, he was employed for 45 years as a supervisor by High Steel Structures in Lancaster. He enjoyed bicycling, hiking, camping, and photography. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Pamela M., wife of Dennis Chan, of Newport News, VA, and Rhonda L. Mellinger of Marinette, WI; two grandchildren, Emily and Jason Chan; a brother, Gordon, husband of Ruth Mellinger of Strasburg, PA; and two sisters, Joanne Mellinger and Mardel Mellinger, both of Lancaster. Family and guests are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday evening, August 9, 2010 at 6:30 PM at Florin Church of the Brethren, 815 Bruce Avenue, Mount Joy, PA. Interment will be private. There will be no viewing. Guests will be received immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of the church. The family requests that flowers please be omitted.
