Obituary of John T. Benner

John T. Benner, 90, of 1975 Cider Press Road, Manheim, PA went home to be with his Lord on Friday evening, December 10, 2010 at Hershey Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Born in Paoli, PA, he was the son of the late Jonathan K. and Ellen Mae Temple Benner. He was the husband of Anita M. Ream Benner for 69 years on October 11th.
Mr. Benner was a member of East Fairview Church of the Brethren in Manheim. During World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Corps. A self-employed contractor, he owned and managed Benner Homes prior to retiring in 1984. He was a former member of Gideons International and Rotary Club of Manheim. In addition to fishing and golfing, Mr. Benner was an avid big game hunter. He had a collection of many of his mounted trophies.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Sandra M., wife of James Welborn, of Fort Wayne, IN, Connie J. Benner of Lebanon, and Kay Louise, wife of William McConnell, of Hummelstown; two sons, Brad J., husband of Barb Hubin Benner, of Manheim, and Bryan S. Benner of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Services will be private. Interment will be in the East Fairview Church of the Brethren Cemetery. There will be no viewing. If desired, contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation, 3805 Paxton Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
