Obituary of Paul L. Neff

Paul L. Neff, 93, of Brethren Village, Lancaster, PA, formerly of East Petersburg, PA, passed peacefully to be with his Lord on Sunday evening, May 1, 2011 at Brethren Village. Born in Manor Twp., Lancaster Co., PA, he was the son of the late Harry C. and Anna Z. Longenecker Neff. He was the husband of Anna Mary Weaver Neff for 70 years this past January.
Mr. Neff was an active member of Hempfield Church of the Brethren where he served as a lifetime deacon since 1946 and as Sunday school teacher. He served on the Board of Directors for Brethren Village from 1956-1990 and was chairman for many years. He also served on the board for Water Street Rescue Mission in Lancaster. He and his wife hosted many International students throughout the years. He enjoyed woodworking, vegetable gardening, and traveling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Samuel W., husband of Nancy Stover Neff, of Lancaster, and Daniel W., husband of Carol Herr Neff, of Manheim, PA; four daughters, Joanna W., wife of Nicholas Huacani, of Manheim, Rachel W. N., wife of Rev. Dennis Brown, of Verona, VA, Debrah W., wife of Werner Mosimann, of Lititz, PA, and Martha W., wife of David Brubaker, of Dayton, VA; 20 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Ruth Haynes of Auburn, IN. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert L. Neff and David L. Neff.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 beginning promptly at 11 AM at Hempfield Church of the Brethren, 1186 Stevens Street, Manheim, PA 17545. Interment has been private in the Hempfield Brethren Cemetery, Manheim, PA. The family will receive guests at a reception in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service. Guests unable to attend the service, will be received by the family at the church on Monday morning from 9:30-10:45 AM. Please omit flowers.
